  • This section should be completed when the student first accesses the program.
  • Skills are developed here so that students are able to effectively complete activities in the different Locations
  • Identify and name major parts of a sentence
  • Use modifiers, including prepositional phrases, correctly and with increasing effectiveness
  • Use a variety of sentence structures
  • Know and apply conventions in Simple, compound and complex sentences
  • Use a variety of subordinate clauses correctly and appropriately for their purposes
  • Use periods consistently after initials, after abbreviations containing lower-case letters and in decimal numbers
  • Use parentheses appropriately
  • Know spelling conventions and apply them to familiar and unfamiliar words
  • Use and spell correctly the vocabulary for these grades
